Please let me introduce myself. I am Deahdra Chambers a wife, mother of five beautiful children, and a licensed professional counselor. I enjoy spending time with my family, but I also enjoy taking time out for myself, because self-care is a very important aspect of counseling. My selfcare routine often consist of nature walks, meditation in natural settings, healthy eating practices, reading, and exercise. I also promote self-care as a therapeutic strategy in my counseling practice. I thoroughly love working with people and I love what I do.
I often incorporate my own real-life experiences and personal stories in my trainings and counseling sessions. It is my goal to purposely be transparent with the people I counsel and train. It helps to build the connection with others quickly so that the therapeutic process and outcomes are successful. I focus primarily on individuals who have experienced childhood or adult trauma. You might ask, why do I focus on such a negative occurrence in our society? Well, the answer is in the question. Trauma is an epidemic that occurs in the lives of all people regardless of race, age, gender, or social class.
Trauma has even occurred in my life on many levels and in many phases of my life and I am not afraid to share my experiences as well as my recovery. It is my desire to share this with you so that you too can grasps the concept that healing is possible and healing is for everyone. I stand on this truth now more than I ever have and this is something I want to world to know as well.
I am a Licensed Professional Counseling graduate from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling degree on March 8, 2014. I received my full Professional Counseling License from The North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors on August 30, 2017.
I am also a member of the North Carolina Counseling Association, member of Leadership Montgomery, and member of the NAACP. I am experienced in childhood and adult trauma, resiliency education and training. I have over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, which has motivated a strongly developed interest in working with children, adults, and families. I have worked in multiple mental health settings in many positions to include clinical supervisor and Program director for therapeutic foster care programs. And I am always seeking more and more education to increase my knowledge base for the clients I serve.
